Dental sealants are an easy way to protect your children's teeth. Sealants act as a barrier to protect cavity-prone areas, like the deep pits and grooves on the chewing surface of teeth. As long as the sealant remains intact, the tooth surface should be protected from decay. Sealants can easily be applied with little to no discomfort by a dentist or dental hygienist and sealants are able to withstand the force of chewing.
